Visiting Bali, a Famous Holiday Destination in Crete

Bali has four beaches, which are formed in sandy coves with nice greenish waters. The beaches are almost always calm, since the direction of Bali is western. They all are suitable for children and well organized. Moreover, water is cool because of the several springs that carry fresh water into the sea.

It is located in a large gulf, 30km east of Rethymno and 43km west of Heraklion. Next to the village passes the National Road linking Heraklion and Rethymno, making Bali accessible from any part of the island. It is ideal for family and romantic holidays.

Almirida beach, Sisses

Almirida is a very small fishing village, located 38km east of Rethymnon, near the village of Sises. The village is not touristically developed and is mainly known to locals. On the west there is a small pier, which protects the small harbor of Almirida. Next to the harbor, there is a small sandy beach with pebbly seabed surrounded by tamarisk trees, where you can find shade. Do not expect very special services, since there are a few rooms and some tavernas.

A few meters east of the village, near the shore, there are the ruins of the old tax office of carob, which once operated in the area. Here is the main beach of Almirida, named Alyki (i.e. salt pan), which is sandy and usually wavy. There is a small stream with water all year round, while you could also visit the chapel of Saint Nicholas.
